A Butler man is in custody following an incident with a firearm in the City of Butler early Tuesday morning.
City Police were called out to investigate shots fired in the 400 block of East Jefferson Street shortly before 2 a.m.
Upon responding to the scene, police found 33-year-old Nathan Ferraro with a loaded .22 caliber long rifle. He was also in possession of 43 additional rounds. He was taken into custody without incident.
Police say bullet holes were found in at least two windows of Ferraro’s apartment with multiple spent casings found on the floor. The resident of an apartment downstairs from Ferraro also had three windows shot.
An investigation revealed that Ferraro had shot more than 30 rounds with two different barricades constructed on his property. Ferraro is known to the police with mental health issues over the past week.
Ferraro faces felony charges for aggravated assault and discharging a firearm into an occupied structure. He was booked into the Butler County Jail on $250,000 bond.
