There have been some changes in the Butler City Police Department after one officer was fired and a second retired.
Butler City Council voted Thursday to terminate the employment of Sgt. Ronald Fundark, effective immediately.
No details were provided about the reason for the firing. We do know hearings were held Jan. 21 and Jan. 28 with Fundark, the police union rep, the city solicitor, and the mayor.
Fundark is expected to appeal to an arbitrator during a process which could last a couple months. Fundark has been a city police officer for nearly 20 years.
Also Thursday, Butler City Council accepted the retirement of Captain David Dalcamo from the department following 17 years of service.
Dalcamo is expected to accept a position investigating insurance fraud with the office of the state Attorney General.
The city is applying to the Civil Service Board for a list of candidates to fill their police vacancies.
