Slippery Rock University has made some improvements in and around campus that students are enjoying now that classes have started.
Officials say the most noticeable external work was completed when the former Kraus Hall on Main Street was demolished. The hall was built in 1966 and donated to the university in 1982. It cost $150,000 to demolish the structure. The empty lot will be used as a staging area for other projects in the short-term. A long-term use for the space is still undetermined.
Other building projects that started at SRU this summer include a $6.5 million renovation to the Strain Behavioral Science Building and a $4 million improvement project for Bailey Library. That project is scheduled to be completed in December.
