Butler County drivers could soon get a break at the pump if a proposed change gets approved regarding vapor pressure in gasoline.
AAA’s Jim Garrity says a state regulatory agency is contemplating removing the summer-blend fuel requirement for seven counties, including Butler, which could mean a 10-15 cent decrease in prices.
“If summer-blend gas is no longer required, it would not only lower costs at the pump for consumers, but also potentially increase profits for gas station owners,” Garrity said.
Currently, the counties are required to use a more expensive gas blend between May 1 and Sept. 15 to reduce air pollution.
