The new Centre City Parking Garage project in downtown Butler continues to move forward ahead of schedule and under budget.
Butler City Council was given an update on the status of the project Tuesday night. Work is currently being done welding on the metal beams in preparation for rebar and concrete.
The project supervisors asked for permission to spend an additional $28,000 on a concrete additive called Deck Corrosive Inhibitor, that is expected to extend the life of the concrete by 10-20 years.
Even though that money was not originally budgeted into the project, engineers have been able to save enough on other parts of the garage that funds are available to use for the additive.
The garage is expected to be completed in late August or early September.
