For the second time in two weeks, a home in Center Township was struck by lightning.
Neighbors told firefighters they saw the latest strike happen about 11:30 a.m. Thursday. The strike hit the chimney of a ranch-style home on Moore Road- between Route 308 (West Sunbury Road) and Holyoke Road.
Even though the fire was mostly contained to the roof of the structure, the damage was extensive, according to Unionville Fire Chief Nathan Wulff.
“The house is pretty much a complete loss. We were able to save a large amount of personal possessions,” Wulff said.
No one was home when the fire started. There were no injuries.
Two weeks ago, a lightning strike started a fire that damaged a log cabin-style home about two miles away from where Thursday’s fire happened.
