A local community is celebrating a birthday this weekend with a special event.
The 53rd annual Harmoniefest will take place Saturday at the Harmony Museum Stewart Hall. Harmony was founded in the winter of 1805 by Father George Rapp.
The evening will begin at 6 p.m. with a wine and cheese reception followed by a dinner with dessert table at 6:30 p.m. An author will discuss his book about an early fort built at what is now Pittsburgh.
This event will also include the presentation of Heritage Awards for historic preservation efforts. St. Peter’s Reformed Church will be recognized for using slate for a new church roof. The owners of the Knauf Feed Mill will receive an award for preserving the historic exterior of what is now a private residence.
