More than 8,000 Central Electric Cooperative customers in Butler County are still in the dark. That’s more than 85 percent of all of their customers in Butler.
CEC’s Ken Maleski says power at two of the nine substations have been restored; the Fredericksburg and Cowansville substations have power restored from West Penn Power(WPP).
“It’s been tough,” Maleski said Saturday morning. He is hopeful a lot of progress will be made today.
“Crews have been assigned; we also have four outside crews from other cooperatives,” he said. “I think we’re going to have a significant restoration today on a lot of our substations that do have power, but have outages outside of the substation.”
Crews have definitely ran into some problems. Maleski said one substation was picked back up on Friday night, and then it went off again in about one hour.
