According to a Central Electric Cooperative representative, the storms that moved through our area earlier this week caused the largest outage event since Hurricane Ike in 2008.
Over 10,000 of 25,000 total CEC members experienced some power loss beginning Monday, May 1st and continuing into Tuesday and Wednesday May 2nd and 3rd. At its peak, the outage was affecting 8,300 CEC customers.
CEC crews worked non-stop around the clock and received assistance from a neighboring cooperative to help make the necessary repairs to lines.
CEC is contracting with a company called Osmose Utility Services to inspect poles in parts of northern Butler County and the surrounding areas. The project is expected to last several months and all Osmose representatives and CEC employees will carry company issued identification.
