The second public hearing on the Redevelopment Authority of the City of Butler’s 2016 Community Development Block Grant application was held Thursday night.
According to Art Cordwell, a total of nearly $273,000 is planned to be spent which is significantly lower than in years past.
Nearly 70 percent of that total will be used to directly benefit low to moderate income residents of the city.
Also, $108,000 will be used for street improvements on the south side of the city including Morton Avenue, Ritter Street, Marvin Street and Grant Street. Other money will be used for curbs and sidewalks, paying toward a fire truck purchase six years ago, code enforcement services and administration.
