The wait is over for Carrie Underwood fans! The superstar’s fifth studio album, Storyteller, is at retail today (Friday, October 23rd). The 13-song project features her current hit single, “Smoke Break.”
Carrie had a hand in writing the majority of songs on the album, and she tells us naming the collection didn’t coming easily. “Well, I was having a hard time finding some thread that like really went through the entire album. Like, I feel like things sound like they belong together, but naming an album is hard, and I was like, ‘What are the common themes,’ so I like started writing down and I was like, ‘Well, there’s like whiskey . . . (laughs)‘ I don’t know . . . There’s a lot of stuff like that, and I was like, ‘That doesn’t really help me name my album,’ so I kind of noticed that either things were my story — you know, very personal things — or we were literally like telling stories with made up characters and you had to listen to the end to find out what happened to them. It’s kind of like as soon as I sound out loud ‘Storyteller’ everybody was like, ‘Oh my gosh, yeah, that’s it!'”
