Carrie Underwood will voice the theme for NFL’s Sunday Night Football once again for the third year in a row. The superstar recently filmed a brand-new version of the song, “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night,” with some of the league’s top players including Odell Beckham Jr. of the New York Giants, Antonio Brown of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Dez Bryant of the Dallas Cowboys, Kam Chancellor of the Seattle Seahawks, Andrew Luck of the Indianapolis Colts, Clay Matthews of the Green Bay Packers, DeMarco Murray of the Philadelphia Eagles andPatrick Peterson of the Arizona Cardinals. Both Carrie and the SNF shared some behind-the-scenes pictures on Twitter.
Carrie is a perfect fit to perform “Waiting All Day For Sunday Night,” not only because she’s an incredible singer, but because she tells us she’s a true blue football fan. [“I’m so excited that I’m a part of that. I have always, always . . . I grew up on football, you know? Yes, I’m married to a hockey player but I had to learn hockey at age 26. I’ve known football since birth, so it’s really cool to be able to be a part of that.”] SOUNDCUE (:18 OC: . . . part of that.)
The new opening sequence will debut on Sunday Night Football when the Pittsburgh Steelers take on the New England Patriots on September 10th at 8:30 p.m. ET on NBC.
