A memorial ceremony will be held at the submarine moored along the Ohio River later today.
The Carnegie Science Center is hosting the memorial from 10 to 11 a.m. Sunday at the USS Requin. This event is free and open to the public.
Submarine veterans will toll a bell once for each submarine on Eternal Patrol and cast flower petals on the water. A Marine Color Guard and a VFW Honor Guard will perform a 21-gun salute. Admission to tour the submarine will be free all day.
The USS Requin was recently inducted into the Submarine Hall of Fame for her service protecting the East Coast during the Cold War.
