Carl Edwards announced he was stepping away from being a Nascar driver and will not race for Joe Gibbs Racing in 2017. His reasoning was simple. He wants to spend more time with his family, and the fact he is healthy after 20 years of racing, including 13 years in Nascar’s top level, is a key factor. He also is satisfied with what he has accomplished, even though he never won a championship. Edwards won 28 races and was one of the four finalists in the championship Chase last year.
