The St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 5-4 in 10-innings Sunday and split their four-game series. The Bucs scored one run in the top of the 10th inning, but reliever Will Crowe allowed two runs in the bottom of the inning. Jack Suwinski led the Pirates with two of their eight hits in the game. Starting pitcher Mitch Keller allowed three earned runs on seven hits over six innings.
The Pirates defeated the Cardinals 6-3 in 10-innings Saturday. Andrew McCutchen hit a two-run home run in the extra frame.
The Pirates are now in Denver to open a three-game series with the Colorado Rockies tonight. First pitch is 8:40pm. Pre-game on WISR begins at 8:15pm.
Rich Hill will start for the Pirates. Kyle Freeland will start for Colorado. He is off to a 2-0 start with a 0.96 ERA this season. He has 1.77 ERA in his last four starts against Pittsburgh.
