A local group is expanding a popular summer event to a new date at an old location.
Cruise-A-Palooza II is planned for Sunday, Aug. 12 from noon to 7 p.m. In addition to classic cars and the usual food, music entertainment will be provided.
Cruise-A-Palooza has been held up at the Butler Farm Show Grounds since 2015 but the group behind the event has been working with Butler Mayor Ben Smith and local business owners to get the financial help necessary to bring this event back to downtown, according to John Malinski, president of the Rodfathers Car Club. The event had been held on Main Street in Butler for decades.
“The people like it both ways. Some like it at the Butler Farm Show…some like it downtown. So what we decided to do is see if we can bring some stuff back to the city and we’re going to do two different Cruise-A-Paloozas. Cruise-A-Palooza I will be still at the Butler Farm Show grounds and Cruise-A-Palooza II will be downtown Butler,” Malinski said in an interview on Monday.
Malinski says the Rodfathers cruises, both in downtown Butler and at the Butler Farm Show grounds, have been rated ‘Top 10 Cruises’ on the east coast by Cruising Times Magazine.
“And that brings people in from all over,” he said. “We’ve had people from Canada. Last year we had a lot of people from Oklahoma and Texas. They follow the circuit for these cruises. They actually take their vacation and drive from cruise to cruise.”
Businesses or local groups willing to help defray the cost of this event can find more information by visiting the Rodfathers’ website.
