The Washington Capitals defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-3 last night in Game Three of their Stanley Cup Playoff Series. Alexander Ovechkin scored the game-winning goal with just over a minute remaining in the game. The Penguins blew a 3-2 lead after two periods, allowing the Caps to take a 2-1 series lead.
Jake Guentzel and Sidney Crosby scored their eighth goals of the playoffs. Patric Hornqvist scored his fourth goal of the post-season.
Washington forward Tom Wilson knocked another Penguins player out of a game with a high hit to the head. This time it was rookie Zach Aston-Reese, who suffered a broken jaw and concussion. Aston-Reese will have to undergo surgery and will miss the rest of the playoffs.
The Pens did see the return of Evgeni Malkin and Brian Dumoulin last night. Carl Hagelin remained out of the lineup.
Game Four is Thursday at PPG Paints Arena. Face-off is 7pm. Pre-game on WISR is 6:30pm.
