Former Pitt guard Cameron Johnson was selected 11th overall in the NBA Draft last night. The Moon native was selected my Minnesota, but will be heading to Phoenix thanks to an agreed trade by the two teams. He became the first graduate of a WPIAL or Pittsburgh City school to be taken in the First Round of the NBA Draft since Shaler’s Danny Fortson in 1997. Johnson attended Our Lady of Sacred Heart. He went on to play for the Panthers before transferring to North Carolina. He averaged just under 17 points per game last season with the Tar Heels.
As expected, New Orleans made Duke’s Zion Williamson the first overall pick last night.
The NHL Draft begins tonight in British Columbia at 8pm. The First Round will be selected tonight with rounds two through seven occurring tomorrow. The Pittsburgh Penguins have the 21st overall selection. New Jersey has the first pick.
