A Cabot teenager is continuing to recover after he was burned by a flare gun.
Police are investigating the incident and could possibly charge another teen with reckless endangerment.
According to State Police, the incident happened late Saturday night at a home on Star Grille Road in Winfield Township.
Two people were sitting around a camp fire- an 18-year-old boy from Saxonburg and a 17-year-old boy from Cabot. Police say the 18-year-old was lying on a hammock and handling a flare gun when it discharged. The flare struck the 17-year-old in the neck, who was sitting about 15 feet away.
The teen sustained thermal burns to his neck and hands, according to police. He was flown by medical helicopter to a Pittsburgh hospital for treatment. Authorities say he was awake and oriented while he was being treated by EMS.
State police say this is an ongoing investigation. It’s unclear if the 18-year-old will be charged.
