A Cabot man is facing summary offenses after a crash into a bridge in Winfield Township late last month.
After a crash damaged the Smith Road Bridge on July 29th 55-year-old James Minton is now facing several summary charges including required financial responsibility, careless driving, and accident involving damage to unattended property.
Minton allegedly crashed into the bridge and then drove off without informing police of the accident. He later allegedly admitted responsibility to police and will have a hearing at a future date.
A Winfield Township representative told our newsroom that a witness who was in the area at that time informed officials about the damage to the bridge. Some short-term measures have been taken to secure the guardrail and prevent future collisions, but the ultimate goal is to have the bridge replaced once funding has been secured.
