A Butler man is in jail after a group of people stopped him during an attempted robbery.
According to a criminal complaint, Butler City police arrested 25-year-old Zachariah Swann Sunday night in the 100 block of North Elm Street as he was being detained by a group of people.
Swann allegedly put a woman into a headlock and took her purse in the 100 block of North Monroe Street. Several bystanders chased after him and one was stabbed in the hand by a large fixed blade knife Swann was swinging around. The victim was missing $15 that was recovered on Swann.
Swann is in the Butler County Prison facing a December 21st hearing on charges including Felony Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Felony Robbery by Force as well as other misdemeanors.
