If you’re already starting to stress about getting the bird on tomorrow’s table, rest assured a turkey expert is at your disposal.
The Butterball Turkey Talk Line is back up and running for the 37th year.
“This is a phenomenon,” turkey expert Carol Miller told our newsroom. “It’s hard to believe, but these phone lines opened in 1981. It was a new concept to have toll free calls. That first year they weren’t sure if anyone would call….and they were blown away. It’s only increased year after year.”
You can now do more than call. About 50 experts are answering questions via phone, text, e-mail and live-chat. They are also answering posts on Butterball’s Facebook page.
Miller says she’s not surprised that people take advantage of the turkey experts.
“People are not used to cooking a 20-pound frozen bird that they got from the grocery store,” she said. “And, lots of times, people only cook a turkey once a year so they forget what went right or what went wrong the year before. I guess that’s why we’ve been around for 37 years.”
