The Butler Boys Cross Country team finished runner-up to North Allegheny in the Tri-State Track Coaches Association championships Thursday. Butler’s CJ Singleton topped the field at White Oak Park. He was followed by teammate Sage Vavro, who was runner-up. 27 teams competed in the event. Singleton set the course record in a time of 15:41. Vavro was 14 seconds behind. Skyler Vavro was sixth.
In the 2A championships – Mike Formica of Knoch finished 3rd overall.
The Butler Girls finished seventh overall in 3A. Jennifer Cichra finished fifth overall. The Seneca Valley Girls finished third, while Knoch was the 2A runner-up.
The WPIAL Championships will be held next Thursday – also at White Oak Park.
