High School Sports:
Ethan Morton of Butler high school was named to the Boys Basketball All-State 6A First Team Tuesday. Morton, a junior, joins two players from Kennedy Catholic as the only players from Western Pennsylvania named to the team. He was one of two junior’s named First Team. Pine-Richland senior Dan Petcash was named to the third team.
Michael Carmody, a junior from Mars, was named to the Class 5A Second Team along with teammate Andrew Recchia, a senior.
Junior Isaac DeGregorio of North Catholic was named to the 3A Third Team.
WPIAL Baseball Playoffs today:
–Knoch (10-7) will meet Blackhawk (13-4) at Neshannock high school at 6:30pm in the Class 4A First Round.
WPIAL Softball quarterfinals:
–Seneca Valley (14-5) will face Canon-McMillan (12-4) at North Allegheny high school at 6pm.
–North Allegheny and Upper St. Clair meet at South Fayette high school at 5pm. Both teams are 13-6.
WPIAL Boys Lacrosse 3A quarterfinals:
–Seneca Valley will visit North Allegheny at 8pm. Pine-Richland will host Peters Township at 8pm.
2A First Round last night – Freeport defeated Chartiers Valley 11-10 in overtime. North Hills eliminated Knoch 9-3.
Girls Lacrosse 2A quarterfinals:
–Mars will vface Seton LaSalle at Seneca Valley high school at 6pm. North Catholic and Oakland Catholic play at Seneca Valley at 7:30pm.
Last night in the 3A First Round: Seneca Valley fell to Mt. Lebanon 18-8.
