The mayor of the City of Butler has mounted a write-in campaign for reelection.
Butler City Mayor Tom Donaldson officially announced Friday on WISR 680 AM’s “It’s Your Turn With Dave Malarkey” talk show that he is encouraging voters to write him in on the fall ballot.
Local businessman Ben Smith won the Republican nomination with 53 percent of the vote in May’s primary election. Donaldson, a republican, won 32 percent of Republican voters in the primary.
Smith will appear on the general election ballot along with Democratic candidate Jamie Goehring.
Voters interested in electing Donaldson to a second term will need to write the current mayor’s name on their ballot. The fall election is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 7.
