Butler’s ballpark could have a new name as early as next year.
Historic Pullman Park became known as Kelly Automotive Park in 2014 as part of an agreement between the City of Butler Parks, Recreation Grounds, and Facilities Authority and Kelly Chevrolet-Cadillac, Inc.
For a total payment of $150,000, the authority licensed the naming rights for the stadium to Kelly over a four-year period. The agreement also gave Kelly the right to extend the term of the deal another two years (for a naming fee to be negotiated) as long as written notice was provided to the authority on or before July 1, 2018.
Authority chair Cherie Readie said Tuesday that no written notice from Kelly was received by the authority as far as she is aware. Kelly Chevrolet-Cadillac, Inc did not immediately return a call requesting comment.
