The state police in Butler are investigating an aggravated assault on a Butler woman.
Police say the 32-year-old woman, whose name has not been released, was sitting on her front porch on Rustic Ridge Rd in Summit Twp late Friday night. She was approached by a male who asked her if she had a cigarette. She told the man she did not smoke and asked him to leave. The male then stabbed the woman in the abdomen with an unknown sharp object and fled on foot toward East Butler.
She was transported to Butler Memorial Hospital and then transferred to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital as a precaution. According to UPMC her condition is stable and her injuries are not life threatening.
