A woman is accused of stealing a dog out of a Butler man’s yard.
The alleged “dognapping” case happened Friday afternoon.
Butler City Police say 29-year-old Calicia Ledoux of Butler allegedly picked up an 11-month-old Siberian husky out of a North Chestnut Street yard and carried it away.
The dog’s owner told police he let his dogs out into his fenced yard but when he went to let them back in the house, his husky “Loki” was gone. The dog was valued at $1,200.
Police used surveillance footage to identify Ledoux. Officers found her, and the dog, inside her West North Street apartment. She claimed she had taken the dog because it was abused but police say the animal was very well taken care of.
During the investigation, police also learned Ledoux was wanted on an unspecified warrant out of the state of Washington. However, Washington officials said they did not plan to extradite her back to that state.
