Butler Township continues to move forward with plans for a recreation complex at Pullman Business Park.
After hearing from Butler Township Manager Tom Knights at their Monday night meeting, the Township Commissioners authorized approval of a contract with accompany called Field Turf in the amount of just over $1.5 million for installation of an artificial turf field along with a camera system and lighting.
In six to eight weeks, the township anticipates receiving the blue turf that is lined for soccer, lacrosse, and football. At that time, crews will put down the turf surrounded by a grey or silver warning track along with scoreboards and lighting to allow for evening games. No fencing around the field is anticipated at this time.
This facility also includes temporary bleachers and concessions as well as restrooms, a walking trail, and a 68 space parking area with electric vehicle chargers but those parts of the project are still in the design phase. Putting that part of the project out to bid could take place as soon as next month with completion of all work expected in October.
