Butler Township is resurrecting a long dormant authority in order to correct a mistake from over 30 years ago.
At their meeting Monday night, Township Commissioners approved appointing Commissioners James Lokhaiser Jr and Joseph Wiest along with Township Manager Tom Knights to the Butler Township Area Water and Sewer Authority Board of Directors.
First formed in 1974, the Township’s Sewer Authority operated until 1989 when they disposed of their assets to the newly formed Butler Area Sewer Authority. Recently it was discovered that two small parcels of less than a tenth of an acre containing pump stations on Garden Grove Drive and Township Line Road were left out of that transfer.
With their three new members, the Butler Township Area Water and Sewer Authority will meet February 23rd at 4:30 p.m. at the Butler Township Building for the sole purpose of voting to convey those parcels and sign over deeds to the Butler Area Sewer Authority.
