Butler Township residents will begin receiving new garbage carts on Monday.
The carts are from Waste Management, which the township hired to take over garbage collection beginning Jan. 2.
Each cart has a 90-gallon capacity and will come with a flyer containing information on collection, according to Butler Township Manager Tom Knights.
Knights says Waste Management uses trucks with arms that reach out to pick up its carts and dump the contents into trucks.
“On that flyer, it gives a rudimentary drawing of how the arm will actually extend,” he said. “Hopefully the roll-out is smooth from day one.”
The township is currently contracted with Vogel Disposal.
