A local police department is donating some equipment no longer needed to help with training of future law enforcement members.
Earlier this week, Butler Township Commissioners approved a request by Police Chief John Hays to donate expired body armor.
Twelve pieces of this expired body armor no longer able to be used by Butler Township Police will be transferred the IUP Police Academy for training purposes once the academy has signed a waiver form.
Butler Township also donated expired body armor to the IUP Police Academy in 2018 and anticipates donating four more later this year.
