Following a public hearing, the Butler Township commissioners have approved the transfer of a liquor license to a local grocery store.
The township received a request for the hearing from Moraine Pointe Plaza Giant Eagle owner Z Point Enterprises. A representative was on hand Monday night to share plans about how they plan to allow for the sale of wine and beer. The existing café in Giant Eagle is expected to be remodeled to allow for the purchase of two six-packs of beer or three bottles of wine during certain times of the day.
A public hearing was necessary due to the fact that the proposed license was purchased from the Wide Receiver Lounge in Summit Township and brought into Butler Township.
A record of the commissioners’ vote to approve the license transfer will be enclosed with the license application, which is submitted to Harrisburg. The next step in the process is a Liquor Control Board representative is expected on site to arrive to do an inspection.
Giant Eagle previously transferred a liquor license to the GetGo on North Main Street in Butler Township after a hearing in December.
