Butler Township’s next chief administrator will be a familiar face. Current Superintendent of Public Works Tom Knights was hired Monday by the township commissioners to be the next Butler Township Manager.
“It’s an honor,” Knights said. “I’m looking forward to all of the challenges that come with it.”
Knights will receive a 17-month agreement at a rate of $86,000 per year to take over for current Manager Ed Kirkwood, who is retiring at the end of this week.
Eleven applications were received for the position and four interviews were conducted with interested candidates. Knights has spent over four years responsible for managing and supervising all activities related to streets and storm sewers.
Before that, he spent eleven years working for Saxonburg Borough in the areas of sewer, zoning, code enforcement and roads. Knights hopes to work with the commissioners and other township employees to bring growth to the community.
