Administrators believe that the 2020 Butler Township budget can be balanced using existing anticipated revenue.
Butler Township administrators and department heads presented their needs to the commissioners Thursday night as part of the annual budget meeting.
According to Township manager Tom Knights, the size of the budget is expected to decrease by about $100 to just over $8 million total which is nearly identical to last year’s projections.
Budgetary expenses including two new police vehicles, as well as a dump truck and mini-excavator for the road crew, are expected to be balanced out by expected increases in revenue from earned income and business privilege taxes. The Township also expects to take on at least two major storm sewer repair and replacement projects in 2020.
The commissioners will pass a preliminary 2020 budget with a vote November 18th before finalizing the plan for next year in December.
