Speedway is one step closer to selling alcohol at one of their stores in Butler Township.
The Butler Township commissioners approved a resolution Monday that would allow the company to transfer a liquor license to the gas station and convenience store on Hansen Avenue.
Speedway plans to buy their license from an owner in Winfield Township where it was formerly used by Cooper Station. A lawyer representing Speedway presented plans for how the license will be used to make beer and wine available at the store.
The move still has to be approved by the state Liquor Control Board. Butler Township currently has 29 active liquor licenses within the municipality.
