Butler Township Commissioners have approved a confidentiality agreement with Pennsylvania American Water.
This vote is another step in the process of a potential sale of the Butler Area Sewer Authority although it in no way signifies the approval of any proposal.
The exact parameters of the agreement only cover information shared by Pennsylvania American Water with the Commissioners and not information that has already been made public.
If also approved by Butler City Council, the confidentiality agreement will then go back to the authority for a 60 day review. There is no information publically available for when an official offer could be made by PA American Water.
The Butler Area Sewer Authority is made up of five members appointed by Butler Township and the City of Butler even though the Authority also services some residents of other municipalities such as Center Township.
