Sheetz is one step closer to selling alcohol at another one of their stores in Butler Township.
The Butler Township commissioners approved a resolution during a meeting Monday that would allow the gas station and convenience store to transfer a liquor license to their facility on Evans City Road (Rt. 68) to allow for the sale of beer and wine.
The license would be purchased from an owner in Evans City Borough and brought into Butler Township. Sheetz will now submit their application to the Liquor Control Board, who makes the final decision.
A project to demolish the Sheetz and build a new, prototype store at the same location is currently underway. The new Sheetz is expected to open sometime this fall with the approval to sell alcohol.
