Butler Township’s 2025 budget will be balanced using existing anticipated revenue for the 14th year in a row.
Township commissioners approved the final budget of just over $21 million with no property tax increase during their meeting Monday night. The commissioners also decided to again not collect the $5 per capita tax for the second consecutive year.
According to Township manager Tom Knights, the size of the budget is expected to increase by about $10 million compared to the current year. This figure includes the nearly $9 million needed to complete the three fields and two buildings of the Pullman Recreation Complex.
Budgetary expenses include expanding the police force by two more officers to 23 total as well as two new Interceptor SUVs and new side arms. Two pickups, a snowplow, generator, and loader have been proposed for use by the road department. The township also plans to do about $900,000 in paving in 2025 and replace the salt dome roof.
There were no changes made from the preliminary budget approved last month.
