The Butler Transit Authority has begun to enter into park and ride agreements in anticipation of starting a service to Pittsburgh.
According to Executive Director John Paul, verbal agreements are already in place to have a stop in Evans City, another at the former Pullman Square Shop and Save in Butler City, and a third at the 12 Oaks Mansion off Route 228 as the bus travels to Pittsburgh. Those five year agreements are pending review and approval from the authority’s solicitor.
Negotiations are ongoing for an additional three stops planned for areas including Forward, Middlesex and Cranberry townships. Paul said Butler County Commissioner Kim Geyer has been instrumental in helping to facilitate these agreements.
The authority is waiting for a report from PennDOT before they can start planning routes to begin this service.
