The Butler Transit Authority has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding that could allow for the authority to become run by the county.
The memorandum states that if the authority does become county run, it will continue to operate local service and be called “The Bus” for at least the next 10 years.
The process is still in the very early stages and many ordinances will need to be drawn up and passed by the City of Butler, Butler Township and Butler County before anything moves forward.
Butler City Council did vote in August to pass a memorandum or understanding.
Butler County is expected to discuss the issue at this week’s agenda-setting meeting of the Butler County commissioners.
