The Butler indoor track and field teams had another impressive performance Saturday at their meet at Akron University in Ohio. The girls had seven top-five finishes, with two top-10 all-time marks.
–The 4×400 Relay team of Madi McGarrah, Adraya Baxter, Lyla Bowden and Jocie Slesinski won their event in a time of 4:09.02, which was the sixth-fastest time in Butler program history.
–Avery Sintz ran the 1600 meter run in a time of 4:30.11 in an extremely competitive field. Her mark was the fourth-fastest time in school history…..and she finished 11th!
The boys team had six top-five finishes and four all-time marks.
–The 4×200 relay had a runner-up finish, with the second-fastest time in school history behind the 2022 team, which ran the fastest time in the state and eventually earned All-American status. (Their time Saturday was 1:30.49. Relay members were Grayden Brown, Chris Rubcic, Aaron Stebick and Kevin Shriver).
–The 4×400 relay team (Brown, Shriver, Stebick and Carter Ekas) had the eighth-fastest time in program history for a runner-up finish.
–Ethan Thomas had the fourth-fastest time in school history in the 1600 meter run. Thomas posted a 4:26.62 to place all-time behind Drew Griffith (national record holder and Notre Dame freshman), CJ Singleton (PA state champion and also at Notre Dame) and Noah Beveridge (currently at Syracuse and a 3x WPIAL champion and state runner-up).
–Aaron Stebick’s finish of 50.83 seconds in the 400 meter run is fourth on the Butler all-time list behind three runners who all went on to run at the Division I level.
