Two men are facing multiple drug charges following a traffic stop in Butler Township on Friday.
According to the Butler Township police, a vehicle driven by 33-year-old Chad McWilliams of Butler was stopped early in the morning of September 25th on Armco Drive at Bessemer Avenue.
53-year-old Donald Johnson of Pittsburgh was identified as the passenger and a search of the vehicle led to police finding 7 grams of suspected crack cocaine, 41 bags of heroin, and several hundred dollars.
Johnson has been charged with intent to deliver crack cocaine and heroin. McWilliams was charged with simple possession of drug paraphernalia.
Since drug distribution is a felony, it can be stated that Johnson and McWilliams could find themselves facing as little as 3-5 years in prison and as much as life in prison. It does depend on the type of drugs i.e., class of drugs found as well as the quantity, also other factors need to be taken into account. For example, if you are found with drugs within your possession, you may be found and charged with trafficking offenses, if the police believe the intent to sell. However, if you are found with a large number of drugs and cash in your possession, you may be facing drug distribution charges. Speaking with a good defense attorney from a local law firm, similar to this defense lawyer in Lexington may be a good way of getting a clear oversight of any charges that you might face.
