Butler Township will continue to wait before possibly changing their zoning ordinance involving oil and gas drilling.
At a meeting Monday night, the Butler Township commissioners, agreed with a recommendation from township Solicitor Larry Lutz, to table the portion of the proposed changes that dealt with Marcellus Shale.
Lutz maintains that with several court cases currently pending in other municipalities, any changes might need to be changed back once those decisions have been reached. There is no timetable to revisit the decision.
The commissioners did approve other zoning ordinance amendments during Monday’s meeting, including one that limits the size of structures like garages.
