The Butler Township Police Department will host a free Citizens Police Academy starting in early 2017.
Classes will start on Tuesday, January 17th, and run for seven consecutive Tuesday evenings at Butler Township Park on South Duffy Road, and at various locations throughout the township.
Some specific topics of the program include criminal law and investigations, domestic violence issues, and patrol duties among others.
Applications can be picked up at the Butler Township Police Department or Municipal Building on South Duffy Road between 8:30am and 4:30pm Monday through Friday. Applications must be returned to the Police Office before 4pm on January 6th.
A total of 15 participants will be selected into the program, with priority going to township residents and business owners. Participants will be notified by the department if they are selected.
