Butler Township has a new contract with their 20 police officers.
The five-year agreement was ratified by the officers before the townshipo commissioners voted to approve it at their meeting Monday night.
The contract includes 3 percent increases in pay each of the first three years, and 3.25 percent increases in years four and five. Officers will also be making larger contributions to their healthcare.
Township administrators believe the deal to be a fair one, as evidenced by the fact that neither side got everything they wanted.
Police clerks and road department employees will be the next groups that the township will negotiate with in 2016.
