Butler Township administrators are gathering information to help them make a decision on how to disperse funds to their fire departments.
Butler Township has three fire departments- the Butler Township Fire Department Station #3, the Mercer Road Volunteer Fire Department Station #6 and the South Butler Volunteer Fire Department Station #7.
Representatives from all three departments presented plans and answered questions during a Wednesday night meeting with the Butler Township commissioners.
Last year, the township awarded a total of $328,000 to the departments, with the Butler Township Fire Department Station #3 receiving 56 percent of the funds, and the other two districts each getting 22 percent. This year, that amount will increase by about $10,000.
The township commissioners are expected to finalize a division of the funds, which will be in place for the next two years, at their next meeting on February 15.
