A Butler Township man is facing assault charges after an Independence Day incident that ended up injuring a police officer.
Butler Township Police were called to a home on Elizabeth Drive on July 4th and allegedly found an intoxicated 45-year-old Mark Sheakley.
The incident was allegedly a domestic dispute. Sheakley was in his driveway when police arrived and was upset that officers were there. The situation escalated, according to police, ending with Sheakley “engaging in a fight” with one of the township officers.
The officer is OK, suffering some minor bruising to one of his wrists.
