The Butler Township Police Department is now responsible for enforcing a local ordinance about amplified sound.
Earlier this month, the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board approved the township’s petition to assume authority in disputes over noise from restaurants and bars. These incidents had formerly been under the jurisdiction of the State Police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement.
Effective immediately, township police officers will be enforcing the local ordinance governing sound from those kind of establishments. Anyone who would like further details about that ordinance is encouraged to contact the township police.
The township decided to take this action following a long-running dispute between The Rock Ann Haven restaurant/bar and a resident living near that establishment over noise.
