Butler Township is taking the next step in the purchase of 18 acres of land in the Pullman Business Park to use for recreational purposes.
After the state granted the Community Development Corporation of Butler County permission to sell the property along Hollywood Drive and Armco Drive, Township Commissioners have authorized the signing and execution of property acquisition documents.
The cost of this purchase is $20,000 per acre or $360,000 total. The township has not finalized plans on exactly how the property would be used but most is likely to be outdoor recreational space such as a soccer field. An indoor space with a tenant is possible but those plans have not been finalized.
Butler Township is also applying for a grant from the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources that would help with the cost of acquiring this property which is partly in the city and partly in the township.
